The Wilder House: Historic 1898 Victorian Built with Love
A genuine 1898 Victorian home on East Park Avenue in Savannah's Victorian District. Two fully equipped suites. Original heart-pine floors. Private parking. Forsyth Park a short walk from the front door.
Built in 1898 for Family. Hosted for Guests Today.
John Hinson Wilder — a grocer who worked just down the street — built this home in 1898 out of a father’s love for his family — a Victorian duplex so his children could be side by side, close but with lives of their own. More than 125 years later it is still standing on East Park Avenue, still welcoming guests, still three blocks from the heart of Forsyth Park. Some buildings just have that in them.
Today The Wilder House is two vacation rental suites — Suite 314A and Suite 316A — inside the same 1898 building, on the same East Park Avenue. The spirit John Wilder built into it is still here. Guests mention it without being able to fully explain it. The address, 314 East Park Avenue, sits three blocks from Forsyth Park’s east entrance — on the street that runs along the park’s edge, three blocks from the park in Savannah’s Victorian District.
Suite 314A & Suite 316A — Two Complete Historic Homes
Each suite is a fully self-contained 2-bedroom, 1-bath home with its own kitchen, living room, and smart-lock self check-in. Book one for a couple or small family. Book both for a group of up to eight — two complete homes, side by side, in one 1898 building.
The Kitchen Island Suite
About 1,100 sq ft with original 1898 character throughout — heart-pine floors, 11-foot ceilings, and the kitchen island guests never want to leave. King in the primary bedroom, queen in the second. Subway tile rain shower. Seagrass rugs. Front and rear entrances.
View Suite 314A →The Haint Blue Suite
About 1,100 sq ft of East Victorian District character — ornate original Victorian millwork, a haint blue kitchen island, and a haint blue shiplap bathroom. King in the primary bedroom, queen in the second. The kind of suite guests photograph before they unpack.

Original 1898 Character
Heart-pine floors, 11-foot ceilings, and Victorian millwork throughout — not a renovation replica. The real thing, maintained for over 125 years.
Private Parking Included
One dedicated off-street spot per suite. In the Victorian District, where weekend parking disappears fast, this matters more than it sounds.
Fully Stocked Kitchens
Stainless appliances, full cookware, coffee maker, dishwasher, and ice maker in both suites. Real kitchens built for a real stay.
Victorian District Address
East Park Avenue in the heart of Savannah’s Victorian District — the neighborhood that looks like the postcards, a short walk from Forsyth Park.
Fast Fiber WiFi
279 Mbps in Suite 314A, 302 Mbps in Suite 316A. Dedicated wooden desks in both. The Victorian District turns out to be a productive place to work.
Modern Amenities Thoughtfully Placed
High-definition smart TVs in every bedroom, discretely integrated into the 1898 architecture. The historic charm comes first—modern entertainment is there when you want it, not the focus of your stay.
